Legacy system

Complete challenges to earn account-wide Legacy points. Each character spends points on traits, while total points also unlock cosmetics.

How Legacy Works

  1. 1. Earn Points

    Shared across your account

The first character on your account to complete a challenge earns 1 Legacy point. At launch there are 65 challenges. The Legacy panel unlocks when your first character reaches level 25.

  2. 2. Learn Traits

    Allocated separately for each character

Every character can allocate the account's points in their own trees, up to 16 points at launch. Points spent by your warrior do not reduce those available to your mage.

  3. 3. Collect Rewards

    Shared across your account

Rewards depend on total points earned by the account, regardless of spending. Earning more than 16 points still matters: the final reward requires 55 points.

16 points is the spending cap per character

In the challenge list below, mark completed account challenges to update progress. 0 / 65 points

Visit Innkeeper Wiley in Ratchet to claim your reward. For example, after the account earns 20 points, both a warrior and a newly created mage can each spend 16 points and claim the airgun reward.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I earn Legacy points?

Complete Legacy challenges. Exploration, class leveling, tradeskills, PvP ranks, reputations, dungeons and raids are reported categories. The demo shows one-point rewards.

Are Legacy Points account-wide?

The points are. Blizzard's Deep Dive recap says Legacy Points are shared across all your characters, while each character spends them separately in its own trees.

Does Hardcore share Legacy Points?

One way only. Progress earned in Hardcore can become available in other rulesets, but progress from other rulesets does not flow into Hardcore. Hardcore itself comes after launch.

Can I eventually unlock everything?

Not at launch. Each character can spend up to 16 points, and up to 65 can be earned. Blizzard plans new challenges, new perks and higher caps in later patches.

Do I need several characters?

Players are asking this, but a complete challenge list and maximum progression on one character have not been verified. Class-leveling challenges are reported; multiple characters are not treated as a universal requirement.

Does Talented give more than 51 class talent points?

No. Every rank keeps the 51-point cap. Rank 1 starts talent points at level 9 instead of 10, and each rank moves it one level earlier, down to level 5 at rank 5. The class talent calculator is unaffected.

Can I reset my choices?

In-game refund rules and costs remain unknown. Reset here only clears this plan, and a single rank cannot be removed while another perk still needs it.

Still Unclear

Future cap.
The launch cap is 16 points. Blizzard has said it will increase in later patches, without a date.
Cost per rank.
Like the external database's calculator, this planner uses 1 point per rank. Published client data does not specify the cost per rank.
The six “?” nodes.
These nodes exist in the client without names or effects and are marked for a future update.
Respeccing.
The client includes an error for removing a trait when doing so would leave the character with negative talent points: Aptitude cannot be removed in that case. Builds can therefore be changed, but the client does not show a cost.
Aptitude.
In build 1.60.1.69913, it is one node with five single-rank options, from level 9 down to 5. The external database exports it as five ranks. The planner follows that interpretation until the game clarifies it.
