Savory Whimsyfin DelightWoW Forever beta

Since 2004, World of Warcraft players have known the Savory Deviate Delight, a fish dish from the Barrens that turns you into a pirate or a ninja for an hour. It is only for looks.

WoW Forever adds a second one, the Savory Whimsyfin Delight, which turns you into a murloc or an ogre. You fish the Whimsyfin in Redridge Mountains, loot the recipe from the zone’s mobs and cook it at 85 Cooking.

For now you do not choose the form: a male character always becomes a murloc, a female character always an ogre.

How to get it

The same three steps as for the Savory Deviate Delight in the Barrens, moved to Redridge Mountains. Alliance and Horde alike.

Fish the Whimsyfin in Redridge Mountains

The Whimsyfin comes from its own pools east of Lake Everstill: in the winding river south of Stonewatch Keep, and in a small lake nearby, close to the murlocs. Only two pools are up at a time: fish one out and a new one appears elsewhere. Bobby Blinks fishes them at 61.9, 70.6.

With about 150 in Fishing you stop losing catches. Players have not found pools on Lake Everstill yet.

Eaten raw, the fish does what a Deviate Fish does: one random effect. Players have had Party Time! (you dance for two minutes), Sleepy (asleep for 30 seconds), Rejuvenation and Healthy Spirit.

Recipe: Savory Whimsyfin Delight

The recipe is a rare drop from the mobs of Redridge Mountains. Wowhead has seen it twice on a Great Goretusk, out of 161,000 killed, and a player looted it from a Black Dragon Whelp (level 17-18). Like the Savory Deviate Delight recipe in the Barrens, it seems to drop from any of them.

It is not bound: you can buy it, or sell yours, at the auction house.

The tooltip only says “Eat me.”: the form is chosen by the server.

What it does

Murloc or ogre: On the beta a male character always becomes a murloc and a female character always an ogre, as players report on Wowhead. You cannot get the other one by eating another.
One hour, even in combat: The form lasts an hour and stays on when you fight, like the Savory Deviate Delight. The two spells have the same duration and the same settings in the client.
Why you cannot choose: In the client, the Savory Deviate Delight comes with four forms: a pirate and a ninja, each with a male and a female model. The server picks pirate or ninja at random, then the model that matches your character. The Savory Whimsyfin Delight has no forms of its own in the client, only an empty one that the server fills. It looks as if the murloc and the ogre took the place of the male and female models, so you always get the same one. That may change before launch.
Who can eat it: Anyone from level 1, so you can cook them for your alts. They stack to 20.
